Objective: A project operating under the IMS umbrella is the Implementation of Digital PDM and PLM Data Archiving and Retrieval (I-PLM Archiving) project. The I-PLM Archiving project has the goal of accelerating the adoption and implementation of long term archiving and retrieval standards and recommendations arising from two key manufacturing initiatives, the LOTAR International program and the Automotive Industry Action Group’s PLM Archiving and Retrieval (PAR) project. This will be done by 1) constructing harmonized conceptual process and object archiving and retrieval models, and 2) focusing on pilot implementations along two channels. In the first channel the AIAG PAR recommendations and LOTAR International standards will be tested under carefully controlled conditions within the aerospace and automotive industry. It is only through carefully monitored implementations that the true completeness and utility of the harmonized archiving recommendations and standards can be assessed. The second channel will consist of pilot implementations within non-aerospace and automotive industry sectors (eg, shipbuilding and nuclear/utility). These will be used to test the applicability of the recommendations and standards within alternative industries.
IMS Activity: Bring together separate activities underway in aerospace and automotive sectors for a unified digital archiving solutions.
